Mission, Vision and Values
Our mission: Creating opportunities for positive change in individual lives.
Our vision: Be a place of compassion, dignity and life transformation for the neediest among us in the Minneapolis community.
Our primary goal: Help struggling individuals meet their basic human needs while reducing barriers to their long-term self-sufficiency.
We work in four strategic areas in carrying out our mission:
Food: We staff a Food Centre in downtown Minneapolis where homeless individuals, the working poor, clients and guests can get a warm meal. The Centre is open year round.
Housing: There are two types of housing available: Group Residential (GRH) and Transitional housing. Both serve adult men and women who have had chronic issues with mental or chemical health, homelessness, unemployment or other types of disabilities. GRH is State funded and administered through the County for those who qualify. Transitional housing is the next step up for clients who are employed or have source of income for below market-rate rents.
Recovery: Our Day by Day out-patient chemical dependency treatment program serves men and women who have lived with chronic addiction, unemployment, have been incarcerated, in gangs or other severe life issues. A majority of these clients have experienced multiple relapses and require intensive support and treatment options.
Workforce Development: Our Computer Learning Center is open for client use. Staff and/or volunteers provide individual or group instruction in: teaching basic computer operation skills, completing job applications, resumes; use of the internet; English as a Second Language, keyboarding and others upon request.
