Workforce Development
At House of Charity, we believe that the road to self-sufficiency begins with sobriety, safety and self-esteem. Counseling and skills development are the nutrients by which empowerment feeds. Because our clients encounter more than their share of barriers to self-sufficiency, our multi-service programs provide the support and resources they need to succeed.
Our Computer Learning Center is both a resource and a tool. Clients can acquire office skills by learning computer keyboarding, or ten-key in addition to software programs. They can also locate housing, transportation, educational resources, jobs and other social services agencies by logging onto a specially designed program. English as a Second Language programs are available if clients want to learn on their own. Volunteers are available to help with tutorials.
The Day by Day Program includes counseling and workforce development components. A collaborative relationship has been formed with a company to assist in life skills development to increase clients’ employability. Human resource personnel visit House of Charity regularly to train clients in areas of: relationship building, customer service, conflict resolution, interview skills and career exploration.
