Computer Learning Center
House of Charity Computer Learning Center (CLC) was founded in 1997 in response to the need for a place where people of all educational backgrounds could learn basic computer skills.
Students have access to computer programs- Word and Excel-individually or with assistance from volunteers. Keyboarding, 10-key and GED preparatory software, Rosetta Stone software are also available. For those who have difficulty with reading, a reading recognition program can be accessed to increase basic literacy skills. Monitored internet access is available for clients to search for jobs, transportation options, health related and educational resources, child care and affordable housing.
Currently, the Center is open everyday from 12 pm to 8 pm. Volunteers from Accenture assistn along with other individuals interested in helping clients build resumes or search for jobs. Classes are in the process of being re-organized in response to client needs and additional volunteers will be recruited as needed.
