Early Years
| 1950s |
- Agency began
at 1506 second Street NE, July 4, 1952.
- First overnight guest on Nicollet Island, October 1952
- First Thanksgiving meal; fed 75 men, 1952.
- Moved to 26 East Hennepin, 1953.
- First Alcoholics Anonymous group met at HOC, 1953.
- HOC incorporated, July 1953.
- Served Christmas meal to 120 guests, 1953.
- HOC served its 50,000th meal, 1954.
- Dorothy Day visits renovation of new building, September
1954.
- Served Christmas meal to 200 guests, 1954.
- Fed 7,447 meals, March 1954.
- Started serving meals at noon rather than in the evening,
June 1955.
- House of Bargains opens, September 1956.
